Adipose derived stem cells (ASCs) are contained within normal fat tissue inn our body. In the case of injury to the skin for example, they are involved in healing that damage. However we can also harvest adipose and inject this tissue into another site such as a torn rotator cuff to help promote healing response. Stem cells have the power to differentiate into other cell type such as does the build new tendon (these cells are called tenocytes).
Adipose is often injected in combination with PRP to maximize the body’s healing response. This combination of treatments can help heal damaged tissue and avoid surgery for many, conditions including knee osteoarthritis and rotator cuff disease.
